The ‘Panchanathan‘ name honors the memory of the late Mr. Lion. S. Panchanathan Chettiar, a dedicated member of the Lions Club and one of Kallakurichi’s most respected figures during his time. Known for his integrity, unwavering work ethic, and deep commitment to the town’s well-being, his legacy inspired a vision of service for the whole of Kallakurichi. His son, the late Mr. Lion. P. Selva Kumar, also an active Lions Club member, carried that vision forward. Alongside his wife, S. Jayanthi, a pillar of strength and support, they started with a small but ambitious dream – a 10×10 shop on Durgam Road. Their hard work and dedication led to a thriving business, allowing them to expand into a decent-sized shop on the same Durgam Road, becoming a familiar and trusted destination for Kallakurichi families. The SPS spirit continued to flourish, and with the need to serve a growing community, the store relocated to a much larger space on Gandhi Road, becoming the biggest departmental store in Kallakurichi at that time. Today, S. Panchanathan Stores finds itself in a prime location on Kachirapalayam Road, opposite the R.D.O Office and near the new district collectorate office, ensuring we remain accessible and convenient for all of Kallakurichi.
